Coffs Harbour, Nambucca and Bellingen Councils have different Bulky Household Waste services. These services are only available to households paying a domestic waste charge, and are not available to businesses.

Coffs Harbour City Council


Coffs Harbour City Council has introduced improvements to the bulky household waste service available to all households paying a Domestic Waste Occupied Land charge. This will lead to improved street amenity as well as maximising material recovery and recycling, whilst still providing up to four (4) bulky goods services per year.

Coffs Harbour City Council provides eligible households with two options for disposing their bulky waste items:

  1. Request up to two (2) free self-haul vouchers from March to March each year to take your bulky household waste items to the Englands Road Waste Management Facility, and/or
  2. A dial-up user-pays booking system to organise a collection from your premises. User-pays collections are for a fee of $58.00 - payable at time of booking via credit or debit card over the phone, direct deposit or in person at Coffs Coast Waste Services office (25 Englands Road, Coffs Harbour). You may request up to two (2) user-pays kerbside bulky household waste collections between March and March each year. Please call the CCWS Hotline on 1800 265 495 for further information, to request a voucher, or book a user-pays bulky household waste collection service.

Booked in kerbside collections are to be no more than three cubic metres in size. Self-haul vouchers are limited to no more than 200kg per voucher, and up to three cubic metres in size. Accepted vehicles include: sedans, stations wagons, utility and standard box trailers without size extensions. No light trucks.

Acceptable Items:

  • Bulky Household items – hot water system, bikes, ironing boards, toys, etc.
  • White goods – Fridges, freezers, washing machines, stoves, dryers, etc. *These are free to drop off at the Englands Road Waste Facility AT ANY TIME*
  • Small electrical appliances – televisions, toasters, etc. *These are free to drop off at the Englands Road Waste Facility AT ANY TIME*
  • Mattresses
  • Furniture – bed bases, couch, table, etc.
  • Carpet / linoleum (max. 1.5m in length, 50kg weight)
  • Metal guttering, aluminium frames (max. 1.5m length)

Unacceptable Items:

  • Soil, sand, rocks
  • Hazardous materials – gas bottles, chemicals, paints, oils, asbestos, fibro, etc. (see ‘other waste’ tab)
  • Building materials – concrete, bricks, roofing materials, fencing wire, etc. (see building waste tab)
  • Gas cylinders and flares, oil heaters (see CRC tab)
  • General household garbage
  • Green waste
  • Glass, mirrors
  • Car batteries, car parts, tyres

When are the user-pays kerbside collections available?

Coffs Coast Waste Services is a shared waste contract between Coffs Harbour, Bellingen and Nambucca Councils. There are two periods when the contractor is servicing the other two Council areas and is unavailable for collections within Coffs Harbour.

The service is unavailable in Coffs Harbour between 19th December 2022 and 2nd January 2023.

However, Residents can still call the hotline on 1800 265 495 and book in a collection during this time, and the first available date will be allocated outside these periods.

Collections will not be available on public holidays, or over the Christmas Period between 25 December 2018 and 4 January 2019.

Nambucca Shire Council


Kerbside Bulky Household Waste Collection - Eligible Domestic (Town) Properties: Eligible residential properties which have the 3-bin system receive one (1) scheduled bulky household waste collection each year. Households may place up to 3 cubic metres of bulky waste kerbside for collection. Collection areas will be split in to 10 zones, with each zone assigned a separate collection week.

Bulky Household Waste Voucher - Eligible Rural Properties:

If you DO NOT receive a kerbside bin collection service (rural areas only), you may be eligible for ONE Bulky Goods Voucher each calendar year. You can request your Bulky Goods Voucher by calling the CCWS Hotline on 1800 265 495.

Each voucher entitles you to take up to three cubic metres (approx. 1 box trailer load) of bulky household waste to the Nambucca Waste Management Facility for free disposal. The vouchers have a unique serial number which will be allocated to your address and will not be transferable. Present your voucher to the staff at the Nambucca Waste Management Facility and they will check your waste to ensure it fits within the guidelines and will ask you to confirm your name and address.

Please note that 1 voucher per three cubic metre trailer load is allowed and all waste materials must be separated at the site accordingly. The following items will NOT be accepted at the Nambucca Heads Waste Management Facility using your Bulky Goods Voucher: Tyres, deceased animals, liquid waste, medical waste, syringes, contaminated soil, fill, asbestos, oyster sticks.

Bellingen Shire Council


Bulky Household Waste Services - Kerbside Collection and Voucher - Eligible Domestic Properties
Eligible Bellingen Shire households which pay Council's full Domestic Waste Management Charge receive ONE (1) x scheduled kerbside bulky household waste collection each year. Households may place up to 3 cubic metres of bulky household waste at the kerbside on their scheduled date for collection. The collection area is split in to 6 zones, with each zone assigned a separate collection week.

You may also request ONE (1) x bulky household waste voucher each calendar year. Each bulky household waste voucher will enable residents to self-haul up to 300kg or three cubic metres of bulky household waste to the Raleigh Waste Management Centre in Shortcut Road.

Bulky Household Waste Vouchers - Eligible Rural Properties
Domestic properties paying Council's Tip Access Charge in lieu of the full Domestic Waste Management Charge are eligible for ONE (1) bulky household waste voucher each calendar year. Vouchers will enable the resident to self-haul up to 300kg or 3 cubic metres of bulky household waste to the Raleigh Waste Management Centre in Shortcut Road.
